COLOUR COATING |
THE PROCESS Continuous coil coating or pre-painting is the most cost effective and best quality painting method. This allows for exact preparation of the surface prior to painting (pre-treatment). The painting is achieved by the ‘roller coating’ process. Galvanised Steel and Aluminum – Zinc coated Steel can be painted to improve corrosion protection and for aesthetics. A large variety of colours can be produced using various paint systems, to meet specific end performance requirements. This allows architects with innumerable roofing and cladding possibilities for industrial, commercial and residential buildings. THE COIL COILING LINE The modern line, commissioned in 1989, has a capacity of 35,000 tons per annum. The line provides for painting of galvanised, Aluminum–Zinc coated Steel and Aluminum as well. The coated steel is continuously de-coiled and passed through a serious of pre-treatment tanks which, through chemical treatment, clean and prepare the surface for painting. The painted material is then oven
cured at about 240 degrees centigrade for about 30 seconds. This results
in a very strong painted surface which is well bonded to the base material.
The painted strip is then recoiled and is ready for any further roll forming
processes. |
